Machine Dazzle Performance in Sideways to the Sun
2019
Moody Center for the Arts, Houston, TX
Machine Dazzle, based in New York, works in costume creation, set design and performance. His over the top, sculptural costume constructions have been worn on stages all over the world by performers including Taylor Mac and Justin Vivian Bond.
In the same vein as my collaboration with Poncili Creación, I invited Machine Dazzle to make new work in response to Sideways to the Sun. Machine completed a week-long residency at the Moody, creating new costume pieces inspired by my installation with the assistance of community participants and myself. The new work was then showcased and performed in a 7 model fashion show/performance in my work.

Performers: Machine Dazzle, Jillian Conrad, Nonie Hilliard, Davis Strumberg, Elissa Turner, Seth McPhail, and Joseph Stevens. DJ: DJ Esteff

This project was made possible with funding from the Moody Center for the Arts and the Visual and Dramatic Arts Department at Rice University
